Develop a few of your own phrases into your meta tags, and use a few of the more popular ones in your site’s headlines and internal content.
If you can’t quite come up with your own words, think of the words that people who find your site might use to search for your products.
For example: If you sell boards, include the search terms “board binders “.When you have a list of search words, you can use a meta tag generator to create a tag that uses the words.
For example, if your site sells sketchbooks, your tag would include the words ” sketchbook” and “board binders” in your tag. Sometimes a tag generator will allow you to choose a few alternative keywords for each page. If so, use these keywords. Try to limit your tag to only a few words, including the search terms.
Choose keywords for each page
Each page should have only one keyword. Make a list of keywords for each page and separate them with commas.
If you have twelve products on a page, the items should be separated with commas if they are similar. Organize your keywords with the most specific to the least specific.
If you have a five-page site, you shouldn’t use the same keyword on more than five different pages.
If you use the same keyword in different pages (including your homepage), search engines will think that the pages are more than one.
For example, if you have a hundred possible keyphrases, you want to have individual pages that are dedicated to the keyphrases.
To avoid this problem, I recommend that you use the keyword in the filename of your web page – rather than a folder titled “keywords.” That type of filenames only confuses the search engine.
I recommend that you include your keywords in the title of your web page – rather than using the title tag. The title of your web page is the text that displays at the top of your browser window. It is also the text that is listed as the title of your site in the search engine results.
The search engines read your title when they crawl your site, so it’s imperative that you include the appropriate keywords in your title.
When you create your title tag, include the most important keywords at the beginning. If you can, use keywords in the middle and summary of the title.
Don’t create a title that is longer than 60 characters. I suggest that you look at the title of all of the web pages you have created and use the same keywords in the title of each page.
Have your keywords and keyword phrases in the body of your web page – the more the merrier. Don’t go overboard with this.
If it doesn’t fit the web page theme, take it out. SEO experts have said for years that you won’t get top search engine rankings if you have too many keywords or key phrases on your webpages.
This is still true! I suggest that you don’t go much farther than three keywords per page. If you can’t fit an entire keyword in the body of your webpages, split the words, or use the keywords in other ways like text in paragraphs or something.
